The twenty projects featured on the Design Incubator site were created in early 2013 by graduate students at the Azrieli School of Architecture, Carleton University, in Graham Larkin‘s seminar/studio Adventures in Multimodal Design. Multimodal designs are such things as maps, infographics and databases layering and integrating word, image and data.
In making multimodal designs for the real world students were encouraged to pursue passions ranging beyond their architectural interests; to expand their technical toolkits by experimenting with techniques of mapping, diagramming and web design; and in general to make a difference in the world by providing people with better access to information.
As indicated by the topics in the Browse Projects tag cloud, the resulting designs were amazingly diverse in subject and form. Popular tags may extend to two pages, requiring you to hit the “Older Posts” button at bottom of thread to see them all.
The menu bar at top includes a detailed description of the teaching process, overviews of the class project and related initiatives, plus information on how you can help support us.
